FREDERICK DOUGLASS

Frederick Douglass was one of the most famous leaders of the anti-slavery movement in America. He escaped from slavery and gained his freedom this month in 1838. Douglass was born into slavery in Maryland in 1818. He was separated from his mother and family when he was still a baby.
